When I was selected, in the local press: https://www.suffolknews.co.uk/bury-st-edmunds/news/parliamentary-candidate-wants-to-be-rally-cry-for-county-9293181/

At the end of 2022 I put forward to stand in the West Suffolk Parliamentary constituency for the Green Party, and the General Election was held in July 2024, This is what I said to members:
" West Suffolk deserves an MP that actually cares for the people that live there, not just about himself, ‘earning’ a shed load of money and becoming a ‘celebrity’. When we’re on the ‘highway to climate hell’ surely we must all recognise this is no longer the time for being egocentric, but instead move hastily beyond scorched earth consumerism towards a collaborative, collegiate One Planet, we-centric-ness. It’s an emergency. We must adopt and actively pursue a vigorous eco-centric quickstep approach to our politics and economics.
Communities across West Suffolk are eager to embrace a different way of doing their politics, with someone truly rooted locally, able to lead and prepared to tell the truth; and who genuinely wants to work in Parliament with them and ensure they have the best of lives, their social, health and personal development needs met. West Suffolk has some outstanding natural beauty (the Brecks, the Lark/Little Ouse Rivers and picturesque villages), and of course, the vibrant towns of Haverhill, Newmarket, Mildenhall and Brandon - this beautiful and extensive constituency can continue to achieve and do great things, and lead the way eco-centrically - all, of course, best done with the first elected Green MP in Suffolk."
We managed to save our deposit! First time that had happened in West Suffolk.
I remain determined. I have now stood for Parliament on four occasions, nearly winning in 1997 and 2001 with the then progressive Labour Party.
I was a councillor in Bury St Edmunds from 1995 to 2017.
